where livestock buyers and sellers meet

Market Reports

As of April 19, 2024

Butcher cows traded fully steady this week with many cows trading from $170-175. Good dairy cows traded from $145-154. Bulls traded $3-4 higher with top bulls between $200-203. Feeder cattle were in excellent demand once again this week despite another despite smaller numbers on offer. The fact that cattle futures stabilized and fat cattle crept higher made everything look more appealing to own. Some of the highlights of this week were 12 Char steers 833@$349, their little brothers weighed 733@$364, 10 mixed steers 634@$420 and a group of xbred heifers weighing 720@$333.
Lightly backgrounded grass weight steers and heifers are definitely bringing a premium over cattle that are short framed or overfleshed. As always frozen parts, big bellies and poorly castrated cattle are being discounted.
