Butcher cows traded another $3-4 higher on the top end cows trading up to $157 on big, thick, high yielding kill cows. Good dairy cows were in the $126-32 range. Morning deliveries were only $2-3 back this week with less cows around. Bulls were also fully steady to $3 higher this week but with fewer bulls on hand they topped out at $181. We had a few fat cattle trade this week in the $195-200 range. Demand for feeder cattle is excellent on all classes. Cow/calf pairs also traded with excellent demand as producers put faith in the markets staying strong for the near future. Good pairs traded from $2900-3450. Local producers that are looking to acquire cattle for grass are urged to act soon as numbers will start to decline as grass season approaches. Please call ahead to book your cattle for our Friday sale or if you want us to come out and appraise your cattle before selling we would be happy to help!

ALSO ANY ANIMALS THAT ARE LAME, BLIND, CARRYING RUPTURES ARE ALSO CONSIDERED COMPROMISED. SUCH ANIMALS WILL BE SUBJECT TO FINES IF DETECTED BY CFIA AT ALL AUCTION MARKETS.

Horned cattle are beginning to be discounted more and more all the time. If you want your cattle to bring a premium price they must be horn free.

If you are planning on selling calves in the next month or so, please call ahead to book your cattle with us. If we know how many cattle are coming it allows us to inform buyers so they can have adequate trucks available.

 A REMINDER TO PRODUCERS TO GET YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME MANDATORY IN 2020. ALL PRODUCERS WILL NEED TO FILL OUT MANIFESTS WHENEVER THEY TRANSPORT CATTLE FROM HOME TO EITHER AUCTION MARTS OR PASTURES. THESE MANIFESTS WILL HAVE TO INCLUDE YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS AS PART OF THE NEW NATIONAL TRACIBILITY PROGRAM.

Producers that leave their calves intact until spring will always be discounted for cattle that appear coarse headed or having heavy tassles that will indicate they are stags or improperly castrated. IF THEY LOOK BULLY HEADED THEY WILL BE DISCOUNTED!! CASTRATE EARLY AND PROPERLY TO AVOID BEING DISCOUNTED!! ALSO HORNED CATTLE WILL BE SORTED OFF ANY GROUPS THAT ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR EASTERN ORDERS....THESE HORNED CATTLE COULD BRING $5 LESS THAN IF THEY WERE DEHORNED.
